V-Iq Based Control Scheme for Mitigation of Transient Overvoltage in Distribution Feeders With High PV Penetration

High penetration of rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems in distribution feeders can give rise to overvoltage during peak generation hours. A well-known solution for this problem is Volt-VAR control method, which PV inverters mitigate the by reactive power absorption. The conventional scheme calculates reference based on a limited bandwidth V-Q droop controller. Although method capable steady-state voltage regulation, it not effective against overshoots caused fast solar irradiance variations. In paper, new V-Iq presented suppress transient cloud passing. controller increased enhance its responsiveness To prevent instability unwanted interaction between high and feedforward section inner loop, low pass filter added path. Small signal analysis proposed provides guideline designing bandwidths filter. stability assessed Lyapunov method. Hardware Loop (HIL) experimental results are validate scheme.
